More Birthday
So, I’ve got a bit more time now to expand on my party last night…
So many people were there which made me feel so good. As I am pretty much stuck in my house most every night of the month, it’s quite a big deal for me to go out. Sad, but I’d imagine reality for 99.9999% percent of single mothers, like myself… Because I’m not working, I have to be extremely picky and choosey about what social events I choose to attend. As I have to pay a babysitter at least £20 to simply walk out of my door, I tend to turn most things down. Consequently, I fear that people will just decide to slough me off at some point and stop inviting me out… So when I decided to have my party I was fully expecting hardly anyone to turn up.
They turned up. And actually quite a high percentage of them had to make *an effort* to come along, which I truly appreciated…
It was especially wonderful to have three of my co-presenters there at once- Mark, Charlie and Gareth- all of whom I was most excited to see. And lars_unit and JoHotFemme DJed for me as a birthday gift which was greatly appreciated. Some unknown freakazoid pushed in onto the decks and wanked things up for a bit by playing things too loud to talk, but I didn’t know him. And as it turned out either did anyone else! Nina the bellydancer was FAB!!! And Louise, Sylvia, Kate and I had a little wiggle ourselves for a bit (I *so* want to take bellydancing lessons…). And to all y’all who were there, thank you, thank you, thank you for making me feel loved. :)
I’ve been getting more and more weirded out by the number of people who read my blog. A year ago I was just getting friends or people via BBC World or via other programmes I’d done who’d found it by searching for me. I’ve since added my blog to Tube Blog and a couple other bloggers’ directories AND have added my blog’s URL to my signature (great marketing idea, Hotmail) and BANG! I just keep getting loads of emails from people all over who read it. I get *extremely* weirded out when I find out friends of mine read my blog (you know who you are…). I just hope I don’t sound too mental.
