I’m on my own tonight- Mo’s at his dad’s, Brian is on a plane… I decided to rent a DVD… The other night I had rented Love Liza. I like Phillip Seymour Hoffman and thought ‘Love Liza’ was OK – PSH, however, was excellent (of course). In the extras I saw a trailer for Punch Drunk Love which stars Adam Sandler and features PHS. I thought the trailer was interesting- not a ‘typical’ Adam Sandler film- it looked like it might be a good movie to rent one night when I’m sitting in on my own again with nothing much to do…

This evening I went round to Blockbuster… looking for DVDs. Their selection sucks and I always find it incredibly difficult to find *anything* I want to watch…. but this evening, randomly, set apart from everything, not in alphabetical order was Punch Drunk Love. I thought, ‘Weird. I should get it.’

And. Oh. My. God. I LOVED it!!!

It was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson who did Boogie Nights which, like, totally rules… but ‘Punch Drunk Love’ was so weird I loved it! I absolutely loved it! I’ve always avoided Adam Sandler. I thought he was fab on Saturday Night Live, but have always thought I’d dislike his films. … I don’t know why. He’s not replusive like Tom “Shark Eyes” Cruise, whose films I try to avoid at all cost (and end up feeling robbed and viciously vengeful if I do), but I’ve always thought I’m not an Adam Sandler movie kinda girl…

Anyway… the film made me feel so smiley that I just had to come here to tell y’all about it… and yea I know the freaks on Amazon gave it low ratings… what do they know? Them freaks gave Hasselhoff 5 friggen stars… (yea. yea. I know it’s one of those ‘crazy’ things people do on Amazon… remember the reviews of the Harry Potter vibrating Nimbus 2000? Were they joking? Who knows?)

One of the greatest things about the film is it used ‘He Needs Me’ by Shelly Duvall from the Robert Altman film ‘Popeye’ (which, if you haven’t seen it, you must, you must, you must see. All that Gossford Park praise. Pah! See a real Altman film like Popeye, people. He’s a genius ;)

Anyway… I’m off to bed now.

Before you go, listen to the ‘He Needs Me’ mp3… it’s the best… bad rip though. If anyone finds a better one let me know…
