Demolition Day Downtime

I’m sitting here on my own in the ‘Demolition Day’ office. Ed and I have been wrapped early (6pm), dinner isn’t until 8 and the rest of the production team are still on site… so I’ve come online. Ahhhhh…

I haven’t had time to tell you about the place I’m working… well, first off it’s in the middle of nowhere which makes things like, oh, getting stuff from a shop or having anything like a normal time when one isn’t working virtually impossible. Second, the place we are staying isn’t exactly a home away from home. The rooms, quite frankly, suck. It’s not *too* bad because we don’t spend much time in the rooms, but there are only crappy showers, no nice baths (there is one bathtub per floor located in some grimy room that isn’t exactly relaxing); I’m in a room with single beds this week- not comfortable; the TV screens are smaller than my laptop; one morning a couple weeks ago as I was getting dressed in the morning a mouse ran across my floor; the food would cause a riot at a prison; the staff are ruder than that Chinese place on Wardour St in London where the waiters tell you to fuck off and sit down.

BUT…

We are finally getting our food catered which has been lovely so far. We all get to eat nice food together in a slightly nicer setting than the grim canteen. We’ve discovered a conference room with a DVD player, Sony projector and a big screen, so we’re having movie nights now (‘Kingpin’ tonight). And we’re just over halfway through so only just under 4 weeks until we all get back home…

All that isn’t to say that I’m not having a good time. The working day, though occasionally stressful, is good fun and working with Ed is fab, it’s just at the end of the day when I would much prefer to be at home with Mo, I’ve been stuck with shitty food, uncomfortable bed and no entertainment…

Who said TV is glamorous?

Anyway… I’m going to try and get online after work this week, so send me emails to cheer me up and make me feel that I’m not totally alone out here. :)
