Are you coming to Brisbane?! I just went to a public talk and on the way out saw a flyer for a panel on nuclear energy in a few weeks’ time, with Brian’s name on it. And here you are flying to South-east Asia…

Mitchell, I’m not going to Australia. On Sunday I’m flying back to the UK and he’s going on to give talks all over Oz for National Science Week… So Brian will be there. Go to his talk and say hello! :)

Dang. I tried posting but didn’t see the little anti-spam thingy…so I don’t think it went. Anyhow. In my search for ideas for Annika’s room, I came across this, and thought of you. http://tiffanyard.com/nerd.htm Annika’s already more than 1.5 and I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t done anything with her room. It’s still just plain yellow. I can’t find much baby/kids decoration that I like. I like this though.

Don’t worry I never did anything w Mo’s room when he was a baby. I started putting posters of animals up when he was about 2, but he insisted they came down a couple years ago. I then tried ‘cool’ posters (hazard symbols etc), but he wasn’t into those… Now he’s just got bookshelves everywhere filled with books…

Made it to Brian’s talk (I had to come from out of town and there was some question as to whether I’d make it). The panelists were a bit too busy for me to squeeze through, but I managed to shout out “Gia says hello” later as we passed on the street, and to his brain’s credit it managed to process the input and parse it correctly, rather than filtering it out according to the heuristic that you don’t care about what crazy people in the street say to you. We shook hands and that was it – no chance to chat about thorium or pomerons or the nuclear industry. :-)

He told me he’d spoken to you briefly! Thanks for that – he’s been busy and a bit lonely travelling all over Oz, so it was v nice for him!
