Jonathan Ross On Facebook

*update 23/11/08: Jonathan is back on Facebook now!

*update* 29/10/08: To leave messages of support which will be sent directly to Jonathan, please click here

**EDIT** 16 January: Jonathan Ross has now left Facebook.

There’s been a lot of Jonathan Ross here recently. It went from me criticising his company’s YouTube policy, to him emailing me to explain their position, to me saying that position sucks, to him, personally, changing their policy, to everyone thinking that he rules and is a lovely geek.

He’s now joined Facebook. Think Wossy can outdo Fry’s Facebook-friendship madness? Go on, let’s try… befriend him.

Befriended. Now will JR have to resort to a proxy friendship group too though? I suppose it depends on whether the BBC decide to follow up and out him as a Facebooker too.

  2. Adam Bowie says:

Also befriended. As have a couple of people who work with me who tell me he responds quickly to messages… Well he does at the moment, until he gets a Stephen Fry flood.

  3. soulmining says:

Also added. Now… has anyone actually posted a comment or sent a message and received a reply from him?

  4. giagia says:

Yes, I have. It actually is him… or at least the person who emailed me about the Hotsauce TV stuff. And as videos from his show are still up on YouTube I can only assume it’s actually him.

  5. John Dodds says:

You had Stephen Fry but no that wasn’t enough for you! JR was my special celebrity friend and now you’re guiding everyone there with your fame obsession! ;O)

  6. giagia says:

Heh. I’m actually fascinated by the rapid destruction of ‘barriers’ w Facebook. There are loads of well-known people on Facebook who are voluntarily bursting their ‘Cleb Bubble’ by being there. I think it takes a brave person who is at Stephen Fry’s or Jonathan Ross’s level of ‘fame’ to go on there and just *be*…

  7. Mark Fisher says:

Feel that JR is a celebrity with his feet firmly on the ground. Can’t understand why it’s necessary for anybody to undermine him just because he wants to *BE*. If he chooses to reply to messages then he also has the choice of NOT replying to messages. Are people being sycophantic? Even celebs are allowed the opportunity to live a normal life.

  8. giagia says:

    Who’s been undermining JR?

  9. Mike French says:

    Love your blog.

Heard Jonathon Ross on the radio at the weekend talk about how he has about seven games of scrabble on the go at facebook.

He and his wife even play scrabble over facebook when they are both in the house. One upstairs, the other down.

He did say he gets annoyed though when his wife beats him with high scores from words like

    erk
    um
    splurk

when he gets less for words like fabulous and delicious.

  10. giagia says:

Heh. I purposely not accepted any of the Scrabulous invites I’ve got. It seems that everyone to succumbs gets very obsessed with it. I need *fewer* things in my life to do, not more. :)

  11. Tracey says:

I’ve just asked to be his friend, we’ll see what happens. Thanks for the link to his profile, was too dumb/lazy to find it myself :o/

  • Observer Article -

Honestly, this isn't a blog just about Brian. That would be really weird... but... indulge me just a bit longer.

Some of you may have seen the article about Brian in the Observer today. Now, you guys are intelligent and realise that not everything you read in a newspaper is accurate. This was made absolutely clear to me this morning as I was sitting in my bathrobe, hair all over the place, barefoot, all coffee breath, unshowered and read, "he married his American wife, glamorous TV presenter Gia Milinovich, in secret." :-/

    Ah well...
