Pffffffft!!!! This email has just sent the following to a member of the BBC's Executive board:
<blockquote>I am writing to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act to be sent copies of all correspondence between RDF Media and the BBC on the subject of the promotional material for the "A year with the Queen" programme.

This would include, but not be restricted to, any emails from RDF requesting to see the material as it had been edited into any trails or promotions before its transmission or dissemination.

I would be grateful if you would confirm receipt of this email and also provide the likely timescale for fulfilling this.

Many thanks

I might take the opposite view to the cheeky and humour Broadcast post you've copied in here.

I started to write a very lengthy comment but turned it into a blog post myself - so thanks for the inspiration Gia.

Here it is... http://projectorfilms.blogspot.com/2007/07/honesty-editing-and-end-of-tv.html

Absolutely.

Commissioning editors (most of whom have never made a programme, some of whom have probably never even been part of a production team), push push push producers to do things they wouldn't otherwise feel comfortable with, knowing that in the end they can lay the blame firmly back at the indie. The producer acquiesces for fear for the next commission and a need to please the paymaster.

It is the poor quality of commissioning editors at fault here.
