Heh. They actually don’t eat batteries as quickly as I feared – partly because they’re devilishly hard to fly. Large room, slow right-hand circuits.

The main advice I’d give is: if you get too close to a wall, they suck themselves in towards it. At that point you’re no longer in control, and the best thing you can do is power off. Failing to do so is the only way I’ve seen the (somewhat fragile, spare included) tail rotor break.

I’m SOOOOO excited for Christmas Day because of the PicoZs!! I suspect they will be this year’s Christmas hit (last year’s was Guitar Hero). Actually, I suspect I’ll need to get a whole bunch of rechargeable batteries for them cos *everyone* will want to play with them endlessly.

Oooh! Oooh! PicooZ helicopters! They rock, they really do.

We had the designer (a mad Belgian ISP owner) on How2 a few years back, with what amounted to the prototype. It was thousands of dollars-worth of ridiculously high-tech bits, and NASA were trying to get him to consult on micro air vehicles. He went to far-East toy manufacturers instead.

The PicooZ is the mass-produced version, and it’s quite amazing. Not quite controllable per se, to be fair, but uncannily like having a pet hummingbird.
