Skeptics and Robots and CERN. Oh My!

What a great time I’ve had over the past five days! As you will have already known, Phil Plait was over in the UK to visit CERN with us over the weekend. You can read about it on his site and, of course, the podcast he and Brian did will be going live soon, too.

Last night, Phil did a talk at Skeptics in the Pub. I was so happy to see Andrew Jaffe and Violet Berlin who both wanted to meet Phil. They only got a few brief moments with him as Phil was mobbed by the throngs of people there.

Phil is now on his way back home. I think he had an excellent time and hopefully he’ll be back soon.

This afternoon, I’m off to the House of Commons for the Intelligent Robots in Science and Society seminar. I’m really looking forward to it. I met up with Julian Mayers this morning (he’s producer of the CERN Podcast) and found out that he’s going as well! Weeeeee!!

After today… X Files…

You’re doing “X-Files” new movie now????!!!! That is so cool. I bought the complete series for myself for Christmas. I’ll keep checking the website to see what magic you weave. Congratulations on the new gig!

R- I’m not doing the website… When I start doing what I’m doing, I will let you (and whoever else will listen) know!!

I’ve been re-watching the X Files, too!… I’m also thinking of going back to my ‘Scully’ hair…

Wish Id known about that pub thing.

John, I didn’t say anything about it because Skeptics in the Pub is bursting at the seams already. Phil wrote about it on his blog, so it was even more busy than usual. I told Andrew and Violet about it because he’s a Cosmologist and she writes astronomy museum exhibitions. :)

I just listened to Phil and Brian’s podcast and it was brilliant….. absolutely fab. As a scientist I get so frustrated with people saying ‘why do this… why do that?’ and the answer Phil gave in response to such a question was fabulous. I would urge everybody to listen! I am visititing CERN as part of a physics teacher programme soon and I am even more excited now! Oh and that’s greta Brain’s TED talk is up… will be using that in class too.

Keep up the good work Gia, and enjoy X files!
