I Want To Believe

The day has come. I can start talking about the X Files: I Want To Believe! I am an X Files fan- I own books, toys, trading cards, I even used to dye my hair red like Scully- so when I found out about the new film I emailed a colleague at 20th Century Fox who I met when doing Sunshine and told him that I’d love to help out on the film in any way possible.

I was hoping that I’d maybe get to organise a bloggers’ screening or something… Imagine my joy and excitement when they asked me to do a bunch of ‘online stuff’ for the film for the next few months! The first thing I needed to do, however, was read the script…

Yes, I am wearing a Boba Fett sweatshirt.

I *want* to believe, but I can’t. I’m a total Scully who would love to be a Mulder… but… it just doesn’t work out for me.

Its so funny how giddy you get when you open it…it must be the real deal…:-) Have fun reading it and please get to work, we need massive online marketing…:-)

You can’t flick to the end just like that!

I guess it’s time to really get into all nine seasons of DVDs I bought last year when they were cheap, to watch “on a rainy day.” Well it has been raining a bit recently.

Adam, you don’t have to have watched the TV series to see the film. That is, you don’t have to watch all of the ‘mytharc’ episodes. The new film is a standalone, ‘monster of the week’ X Files which requires no previous knowledge of the characters or their background.

There is going to be a DVD with 8 episodes of the X Files coming out, the aim of which is to gear everyone- old fans and new fans alike- for the new film. The episodes on that DVD are:
    Disc 1: Pilot (Season 1)
    Beyond the Sea (Season 1)
    The Host (Season 2)
Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose (Season 3)

Disc 2: Memento Mori (Season 4)
    Post-Modern Prometheus (Season 5)
    Bad Blood (Season 5)
    Milagro (Season 6)

That’s a lot more manageable than 9 whole series and a film!

I’d heard that it’s standalone. But I bought the DVDs ages ago in a mad rash, so will watch them. They’ve been staring at me in an accusatory manner for far too long.

I loved The X-Files at the time, and even have some VHS tapes from the first ill-fated attempt to release all the series episodically. And I’ve got a couple of books penned by Mrs Jonathan Ross – Jane Goldman.

But I don’t think I’ve ever seen the last couple of seasons! So re-watching from the start is not something that I feel I *have* to do. Just something I *want* to!

Mind you, if I find I haven’t made enough of an impression in them all come August, I might just skip to those ‘mytharc’ episodes!

  6. giagia says:

I’ve got Jane Goldman’s books, too! I think they’re being re-released this summer.

I’ve got everyone on DVD, too… There’s A LOT of episodes to watch. :) Weeeee!

Honestly, this isn't a blog just about Brian. That would be really weird... but... indulge me just a bit longer.

Some of you may have seen the article about Brian in the Observer today. Now, you guys are intelligent and realise that not everything you read in a newspaper is accurate. This was made absolutely clear to me this morning as I was sitting in my bathrobe, hair all over the place, barefoot, all coffee breath, unshowered and read, "he married his American wife, glamorous TV presenter Gia Milinovich, in secret." :-/

    Ah well...
