Sherlock Christmas

Last year, my son was really into Star Wars and very excited about the new film coming out, so I made a Star Wars themed Christmas tree which seemed to get a lot of people very excited.

This year my son is really into Sherlock, so, yep, I decided to have a Sherlock-themed Christmas.

I started off by making some 221b doors. First a big one…

Then we painted five small ones to be made into decorations for the tree… (note the crooked door knocker. Mycroft hasn’t been…)

Next, I wanted to use the wallpapered wall in Sherlock’s flat for something…

I bought some fabric with a small Sherlock wallpaper pattern from Spoonflower and made cloth napkins and painted yellow smiley faces on it with Tulip slick fabric paint.

Then I bought some fabric with a large Sherlock wallpaper pattern from Spoonflower and put it up on the wall in our kitchen near the table.

The table…

I got some mismatched plates and tea sets and found or made various Sherlock themed bits and bobs.

While I was doing all of this, I decided to make my son a ‘Sherlock coat’. I found a long coat for him and ‘Sherlocked’ it…

Christmas decorations…

Other than the little 221b doors, I found some Sherlock pipes and magnifying glasses at a costume shop and used Christmas ribbon to hang them on the tree, along with a deerstalker and a John Watson bowler hat.

I helped my son make the tree topper…

We’ve even got an appropriate game to play after Christmas dinner…

We cannot wait for the new episodes!

  • Am loving the attention to detail! You could always get hold of the Operation game if Cluedo ever wears thin… have a lovely time!
